Design your Smoothie for your Dosha!
The smoothie craze is still going strong in the western world, and we see so many people resorting to the convenience and promise of nutrition offered by these blended meals as a way to cope in the fast pace of this modern life, which leaves little time for preparing meals with love and attention.
The problem with smoothies is that they are often served cold or iced and filled with raw ingredients that cannot always be properly and efficiently digested by the body, resulting in the creation of Ama (the toxic by-product of digestion gone awry) at every Kosha (energetic layer of being). We too often toss in a mish-mash of many different ingredients, which individually, may not be suitable for balancing our specific Vikruti (current Doshic expression) and collectively, might also create complicated food combinations that the body cannot compute. Ama thus accumulates in the channels and blocks the flow of Prana, leading to all kinds of dis-ease.
So if you are going to include smoothies as a staple in your diet, always take your smoothies warm or at room-temperature, and skip the ice! Kapha Smoothie:
½ cup soaked pumpkin or sunflower seeds (soaked overnight)
2 tbsp AYURVEDIC CACAO
2 cups warm water
handful of bitter greens (kale, dandelion, etc.)
pinch of cinnamon
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
Option: add SLIM & TRIM POTION for more detoxification support
Serve warm
Vata Smoothie:
¼ cup soaked almonds (soaked overnight)
1 tbsp ADAPT-TO-LIFE POTION
3 dates (soaked)
1/3 cup coconut milk (warmed)
1 handful organic spinach
1 handful of chopped, cooked beets
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cardamom
Option: add HIGHER WISDOM POTION for mental stability or LOVERS POTION for more lubrication + energy.
Serve warm
Pitta Smoothie:
1 cup coconut water
1 tbsp POPEYE PROTEIN POTION
1 cup berries of your choice
hand full of pineapple
1/2 a cucumber
juice of ½ a lime
a few sprigs of mint
Option: add Aloe Vera Juice and MIGHTY MAN or WILD WOMAN POTION for more balancing effects.
Serve room-temperature or slightly cool
