Your Ayurvedic Skin Type
How do you live in your skin?
Your skin expresses so much about what is going on internally...
According to Ayurveda, your skin is a representation of the energetics within you, and can offer clues about whether the body and mind are in balance or experiencing disharmony. And, by knowing more about your skin type, you can effectively offer the proper nourishment it needs, both inside and out.
At Rasa, we have formulated an entire skincare line with considerations about your constitutional uniqueness. Each of our products is enhanced with high-potency plant medicine that will leave your skin radiant, nourished and balanced.
What's Your Skin Type?
Vata (Air and Ether)
Those with a primarily Vata dosha have skin that can be described as fine or delicate, and may experience dryness and premature aging. The skin is often thin and although these individuals are more susceptible to signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines, they’re also blessed with less acne and often that fine porcelain look coveted by many. For those with a Vata skin type, hydration is essential, as is nourishment and protection.
Pitta (Fire and Water)
Those with a dominant Pitta dosha crave coolness and the skin can be aggravated by heat. As a result, those with Pitta skin are easily sunburned and can have problems with inflammation, irritation, acne and redness. Pitta skin is often fair, with freckles and/or moles, and is known to emit a warm glow. Pitta skin requires great care and is prone to conditions such as rosacea, pigmentation issues, rashes, and is quite sensitive overall. For those with a Pitta skin type, soothing and calming is essential, as is cooling.
Kapha (Earth and Water)
Kapha skin is characterized by oiliness, large pores, and is often cool or moist to the touch. As a result those with Kapha skin can be prone to cystic acne, but, also have the benefit of thick, soft skin which helps delay signs of aging and maintains youthful radiance longer. Kapha individuals can experience water retention and excess oil, and it is helpful to cleanse very regularly to prevent breakouts, clogged pores, and fungal infections.
