It is estimated that women have been practicing with gemstone eggs for over 5,000 years. Empresses and concubines of the Royal Palace of China used eggs carved out of jade to access sexual power, awaken sensuality and maintain amazing health into their old age. Up until recently, this ancient, secret practice was only available to members of the royal family, and to select Taoist practitioners.

How to Choose which Egg to gift to yourself or someone special in your life?
A Yoni Egg is sacred and personal, and we believe that every woman intuitively knows what is best for her. That being said, if it is your first introduction to Yoni Eggs you might feel a little overwhelmed.
In that case, our suggestion for every woman is:
Ideally a set of 3 yoni eggs – Large, medium and small, all in Nephrite Jade, or variety set of 3 different crystals.
If you need to pick one only, let it be Nephrite Jade, medium-sized – this is the most popular yoni egg, is an excellent choice for those new to yoni eggs and is the classical choice arising from Taoism.
Which Size to Choose?
Large is typically 35×50 mm, medium 30x43mm and small 25x35mm. It might sound a little counterintuitive – when using Yoni Egg most of the time we will start our practice with a larger egg and as our dexterity grows, we will go down in size. The larger the egg the easier it is for us to feel and for the muscles to grip it. Although the larger the egg the heavier it is, so it gets harder to keep it in for long periods of time. If you cannot keep the egg in at first, do not get discouraged, it is completely normal for beginners – start practicing while laying down or sitting up, and take some intimate moments with yourself to breath, massage and connect in presence with your yoni.
Which Gemstone to Choose?
Traditionally in Taoist teachings 3 types of stones are used. These stones have been used for thousands of years and their safety and healing benefits are time tested.
Nephrite Jade – Communicates with the Heart chakra. The Jade egg helps connect our heart with our passion (second chakra and yoni). Nephrite jade energetically balances the water of the body and therefore is beneficial for the health of the entire organism, and especially for the kidneys and female reproductive system. It is a very grounding, calming, balancing and protective stone that promotes self love and well being.
Rose Quartz – Often referred to as the Love Stone. Rose quartz corresponds strongly to the Heart chakra, it helps dissolve the barriers and blockages we have against feeling, giving and receiving the energy of love.
Black Obsidian –Resonates with the root chakra. Obsidian is a very protective stone and a powerful ally for releasing trauma and emotions stored in the body, especially in the pelvis. It transmutes negative energy and helps treating certain ailments of the female physical body.
Washing Your Egg?
Make sure to keep your egg sanitized by boiling a pot of water, then removing the water from the stove to allow it to cool slightly. Now you can set your egg in the water for 12-15 minutes. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar in the water if you wish.
Please do not boil your egg, it might cause it to crack.
Wash your egg thoroughly before and after each use.
It is a good idea to energetically clear your yoni egg before using it for the first time. The best way to do it is by placing it in the bowl of sea salt overnight. You can choose to smudge it with sage, palo santo or sweet grass and to place it to bathe in the moonlight. With a regular practice it becomes important to energetically clean your yoni egg every couple of days.
Removing Your Egg?
At first, it may seem daunting to use your yoni egg, because you might be worried that you will not be able to remove it. Luckily, our yoni eggs come pre-drilled with a small hole for easy insertion of uncoated and unflavoured dental floss, giving your egg a 'leash.' This means that when you are finished your practice, you can simply pull the egg out like a tampon.
With time and practice, you will gain more and more control of your pelvic floor muscles and will be able to remove the egg by squatting and pushing the egg out.
***PLEASE NOTE: ALL OF OUR YONI EGGS COME DRILLED WITH A HOLE***
While this can raise some concerns around the possibility for proper sanitation, we can assure you that by following the directions given above, your Yoni Egg will be effectively sanitized and safe to use.
Important – Do not practice with a Yoni Egg if you are pregnant or right after childbirth. A Yoni egg can be a wonderful practice to start 6 weeks postpartum from a natural birth, but make sure to consult your doula, midwife or doctor before you start.
