Are you craving less? Less input. Less distraction. A sigh. An unfurling. A long exhale. Do you feel called to honour the knowing that less is, in fact, more?
Let Lisa Power, yoga teacher and co-founder of RASA Ayurveda, introduce you to The Kind Cleanse: an organic and Ayurvedic detox program centered around a simple yet deeply nourishing and cleansing dish called Kitchari. This one-pot, mung bean, rice and vegetable ‘stew’ has been prescribed seasonally for thousands of years for its gentle but powerfully cleansing benefits on the physical, emotional and energetic levels. If you’ve ever done a raw juice cleanse and wondered why it felt harsh, aggressive, cold and depleting, you will be relieved to learn how you can remove excess Ama (toxins/waste), reboot your metabolism and soothe your gut in a way that will bring warmth and restoration even in the deep chill of winter. You will have the chance to gather with other beings who long for better health and together, learn how to prepare this potent and purifying meal for your own cleansing intentions as well as how to adjust the simple recipe to your unique Ayurvedic constitution and imbalances. You will be prepared to embark on your own, personal cleansing retreat of 3, 5 or 10 days.
In conscious gathering, learn how to shed mental, emotional, and physical stagnant layers to reveal your more balanced, vibrant Self.
What makes a Kitchari Cleanse so Kind?
-rather than feeling deprived, you will feel sustained
-rather than feeling flighty and anxious, you will feel grounded, safe and secure
-rather than feeling freezing cold or over-heated, you will feel comfortable and soothed
-you will find physical and mental clarity
-you will stoke Agni (digestive fire), increasing your capacity to digest food and life
-you might lose a few extra pounds along the way
-your purified body and being will more easily be able to connect to the inner Self, offering the greatest healing of all
You Will Discover:
-your personal Ayurvedic constitution and current Doshic state: Vata, Pitta, Kapha
-how to prepare Kitchari to treat your current imbalances
-how to modify the recipe for a 3, 5 or 10 day cleanse, depending on your level of commitment
-how energy affects food and simple, yet sacred practices for imbuing your kitchen with love
-daily routines to enhance your cleansing and healing potential
-the chance to eat a fresh Kitchari meal in community
-a meditation to guide you into inner rest within the Heart
-a printed shopping list
-a short yoga sequence for digestion (time-permitting)
-while this workshop encourages a return to self-care and home-cooking, you will have the option to order The Kind Cleanse pre-made specifically for you by Lisa and delivered to your door (Peterborough only)
Who is Lisa?
Lisa first encountered Ayurveda in 2014, when she found herself in a 200hr yoga teacher training led by her future teacher, friend and Ayurvedic mentor, Tiffany. Lisa was searching for relief from a tremendously unwell mind and body as well as the constant suffering that seemed to accompany her in every moment.
As an extreme sceptic–not by nature, but by conditioning–Lisa had low expectations when Tiffany sat down with her, took her pulse, looked at her tongue, asked a few question and then suggested she eat a mono diet of something called ‘Kitchari’–a rice and mung bean stew–for 10 days. 10 days turned into 20 and at about the 15-day mark, she noticed that about 80% of the physical pain she had lived with for many years had vanished overnight.
Since then, Ayurveda, Yoga and Advaita Vedanta (Self-Inquiry) have engulfed her previous life ‘plans.' In the summer of 2018, she and Tiffany combined forces to co-create RASA Ayurveda, Canada’s newest Ayurvedic apothecary, clinic, and school. Through Ayurveda–the science of life–this existence is inviting her, moment by moment, back into her natural Self and Lisa is more than happy to acquiesce.
She has trained in traditional Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative yoga (500hr RYT), Ayurveda and Self-Inquiry meditation. Her classes blend dynamic, strength-building movement with softness and surrender, and she teaches with a love and care that is deeply felt.
